Magwells

A magwell turns a reload you have to aim into a reload you can throw. The flared mouth gives the magazine somewhere to go when your hands are fast and your position is not perfect, and the added weight low on the frame settles the pistol between shots.

Brass or aluminium?

This is the real decision. Brass is heavier, and that weight sits where it is useful — low, forward of your grip, damping muzzle rise and helping the magazine drop free. Aluminium gives you the same funnel without the mass, which suits a build already at the edge of a division weight limit, or anyone who prefers a lighter pistol. Neither is better; they solve different problems. Our brass versus aluminium comparison works through it properly.

Division length matters on 2011s

The 2011 magwells come in Limited and Open lengths, and they are not interchangeable for competition purposes — Limited has to sit inside the IPSC box, Open does not. Buy for the division you shoot. The 2011 magwell buyer's guide covers the distinction.

Grips and base pads are part of the same decision

A magwell changes what your grips and base pads need to be. Magwell-cut grips clear the funnel; magwell-ready base pads seat against it rather than fouling on it. Grips that were not cut for a magwell will not sit correctly once one is fitted, which is why the combo listings and stack bundles exist. If you are fitting your first, read the Shadow 2 magwell installation guide before you start.

We stock brass and aluminium magwells for CZ Shadow 2 and for 2011 platforms in both Limited and Open lengths.
