Red dot footprint chart: which optics use each footprint

Footprint data comes from optic makers' published specifications where available. Screw length, recoil bosses and deck height can differ within a footprint, so check your optic's manual before fitting.

Red dot mount questions

What is a red dot footprint?

The footprint is the pattern of screw holes and recoil lugs on the base of the optic. A mount, plate or slide cut must match it. Many competition optics share the Trijicon RMR pattern; others use the Leupold DeltaPoint Pro pattern or smaller carry patterns.

Two optics share a footprint. Will they both fit the same mount?

Usually, but not always. Housing shape, screw length and recoil lug height can differ between optics on the same footprint, so check the optic maker's manual and use screws of the right length.

Where does the footprint information come from?

From each optic maker's own product pages and manuals wherever possible. Each optic shows its source. If the source is a secondary chart, we flag it so you can confirm before you buy.
