CZ Shadow 2 Dovetail Red Dot Mounts: Best Optic Plate for Carry Optics (2026)

A dovetail red dot mount on your CZ Shadow 2 is installed in the CZ factory dovetail cut on the slide. Unlike a front-mounted rail, a dovetail mount sits low and centrally on the slide. This means your sight line stays lower and more aligned with your hand position. Lower sight line = faster target acquisition.

Why dovetail on CZ Shadow 2?

CZ Shadow 2 ships with a factory dovetail cut. Most platforms don't. The dovetail is reversible. If your optic fails in the field, you unscrew it, flip the adapter, and press it back in from the opposite direction. You just gained a manual backup sight in one hardware swap. Try that with a rail mount. You can't.

How Dovetail Red Dot Mounts Work

The dovetail cut is a 45-degree V-groove milled into the CZ Shadow 2 slide. It runs the width of the rear sight block. An adapter plate screws into the V-groove from underneath. The red dot (RMR, Holosun, etc.) screws onto the adapter. Pressure from the screw pulls the adapter tighter into the dovetail. The tighter the screw, the more solid the mount.

The key: use thread-locking compound. A hand-tight screw will back itself out under recoil. Vibratec, Loctite 243, or a proprietary brand. Locktite 243 is blue (removable), Locktite 270 is red (permanent). Use blue. Permanent compound will destroy your optic if you ever need to service it.

Reversibility & Failsafe

This is the CZ Shadow 2 dovetail advantage no other platform has. A rail-mounted optic fails = you're done. A dovetail-mounted optic fails = you flip it, press it back in, and you now have an iron-sight-style aiming point from the optic's witness marks. Not perfect, but it works in competition. Not all platforms allow this. CZ Shadow 2 does because the dovetail is a true bidirectional cut.
