Looking for smoother slide cycling and reduced felt recoil on your CZ 75, SP-01, or Shadow 2? The progressive recoil spring is a proven competition upgrade that Australian IPSC and USPSA shooters rely on for faster split times and less slide battering. Direct drop-in replacement — no fitting or gunsmithing required.

The CZ 75/Shadow 2 Progressive Recoil Spring delivers noticeably smoother slide cycling and reduced felt recoil compared to the factory constant-rate spring. Progressive winding means the spring resistance builds gradually through the stroke — softer initial travel for faster cycling, with full resistance at the rear to prevent battering. A meaningful performance upgrade that you'll feel from the first round.

Key Features

  • Progressive Rate Design — Resistance increases through the stroke for smoother cycling and less slide battering.
  • Reduced Felt Recoil — Softer initial compression means the muzzle recovers to target faster between shots.
  • Faster Split Times — Quicker slide return translates to tighter shot-to-shot splits in competition.
  • Universal CZ 75 Platform Fit — Works across CZ 75, SP-01, Shadow, and Shadow 2 models.
  • Drop-In Installation — Direct replacement for the factory recoil spring — no fitting needed.

Division Compliance

Recoil springs are legal in all IPSC divisions including Production, Standard, Classic, and Open. Also compliant with all USPSA divisions. Spring changes are explicitly permitted as a standard maintenance/tuning item across all competition rulesets.

Compatibility

  • CZ 75 / CZ 75 B
  • CZ 75 SP-01 / SP-01 Shadow
  • CZ Shadow 1
  • CZ Shadow 2

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a progressive and constant-rate recoil spring?

A constant-rate spring has uniform resistance throughout compression. A progressive spring starts softer and builds resistance — giving you smoother cycling, less slide battering, and faster target re-acquisition.

Will the progressive recoil spring work with my factory CZ guide rod?

Yes. The progressive recoil spring is a direct replacement that works with the factory guide rod on all compatible models.

Do I need to change my firing pin if I install this spring?

Not necessarily. This is a recoil spring, not a hammer spring — it doesn't affect firing pin strike energy. However, if you're also installing lighter trigger springs, an extended firing pin is recommended.

How often should I replace my CZ recoil spring?

For competition use, inspect every 3,000–5,000 rounds. Replace when you notice sluggish cycling, failure to return to battery, or visible spring fatigue.

I highly recommend getting your information from the experts at Boss Components. Using an incorrectly weighted spring can cause firearm malfunctions and create a serious safety risk, particularly for novices. The Boss Components spring works perfectly, and I was very impressed with their service and fast delivery.

CZ 75/Shadow 2 Progressive Recoil Spring

Bought several progressive springs from Boss Components for my Staccato XL (2011). The problem I was trying to solve was misfeeds with the factory spring (7 lb) when using low muzzle energy 9 mm ammo, specifically 147 gr, 900 fps rounds. The BC 7 lb (nominal) progressive spring solved the problem. Note that the factory spring measured 7.5 lbs at full travel while the BC was 10.5 lbs, much better at closing the slide. The progressive spring basically acts like a 7 lb spring in terms of felt recoil, but reliably closes the slide, more like a 10 lb spring. Solved my problem without noticeably increasing the felt recoil. For 2011 shooters, note that the barrel ramp is steep and builds up carbon quickly. Flat head rounds (e.g., Syntech) are especially prone to "stick" to a dirty ramp, which causes misfeeds. Other causes are riding the slide with your thumb and of course a spring that is too weak.

1911/2011 Progressive Recoil Spring | Reduced Recoil

I like the design of this spring and the feel of my S2 recoil impulse. I am currently using the 12lb progressive spring with the Boss tungsten guide rod. The slide closes a little more slowly than I am used to, but I havent had any malfunctions with factory Blazer ammo

CZ 75/Shadow 2 Progressive Recoil Spring | Performance Upgrade

Experienced some difficulties with my new 1911 in that it would fail to chamber every half doz rounds or so. Initially looked at the feed ramp, mag lips being distorted among other checks. Finally came down to the recoil/return spring which I thought may be the issue. Research and source Boss Components for the remedy in the form of the 16lb spring. Have managed to get some rounds away and the spring is working flawlessly. No hang ups and a solid return to battery. Will get a better idea with more rounds but so far I am very pleased with the spring and looking forward to participating in a few comps. I have purchased a 17 & 18lb spring in reserve should I need a boost. I have 2 x 1911's so now well prepared when I start on the other. Much Thanks to BC for your assistance in my endeavours. Regards KS

Consiglio !!! TOP!!!
